different device name after the reboot

i have couple of block filesystems & raw devices in an RHEL 4.0 itanium box thats presented from a SAN (MSA1000). The problem is, after I configured the block & raw devices I am getting different device name. Has anyone encountered such problems or any idea whats happening?

Re: different device name after the reboot

Suddenly, this is a normal behaviour. If you want persistent devices names, you can use the devlabel command to match devices names with the device UUID.
Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: different device name after the reboot

udev is the recommended method with RH4

Download the file LMPutils.tar.gz on the page â LUN Persistence and Migration Utility for Linuxâ . You can access this page directly using the URL link: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=12169&prodSeriesId=1814938&prodNameId=1825342&swEnvOID=2025&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=co-39335-1 or you can search www.hp.com for the title.

DO NOT downlaod teh latest udev. The whitepaper is somewhat confusing on this.
