display turn off after sometime
My display turns off after 3 hours and the user is locked out,,,,

Shalom,
The user should press a key and enter his/her password after this. It is a standard for the OS non-root users for the machine to do this. The default behavior is to require the users password to resume using the system.
If this is not working, try moving or clicking the mouse.
If he machine stays locked, this could indicate a KVM or keyboard mouse replacement is warrented.

It could also mean that the power management routine's in use are incompatable with the system.
There are some apic/apm stuff of which works on most machines, but a small handful they don't.
If this is a server, you might try using the power-off-the-screen method of screen saver instead.
