DTC 16MX software support on Linux
I need the ability to run the dtcmgr and ocd software on linux (RH 6.2)
Is HP willing to provide the source code to the open source community ?
If not, is HP willing to port the code for price ?
I am working this from several angles, ie.. calls to HP Linux marketing reps... but no response yet.

Re: DTC 16MX software support on Linux
Scott,
Pardon my prying eyes, but I think that it would be fantastic if you can get HP to fully embrace Linux (even more than they already have)!
Now, as an interrim step, is there some functionality that might be had someone else that would suit your purpose. What exactly are you attempting to do with the dtcmgr software?

Re: DTC 16MX software support on Linux
My problem is that I have $300,000 worth of HP DTC hardware in service and I do not want to replace it with another device simply because I need Linux support.
There are several non HP DTC devices avaiable.

Re: DTC 16MX software support on Linux
Well, there's the "hard way" of figuring this out -- run tcpdump and decode/reverse engineer the packets to/from the DTC [similar to how SMB was demystified] and there's the oblique way: see if you can get/port HP-UX drivers... [well, that's probably going to be hard too... :( ]
I don't know where the references would be, but I do believe HP's "protocol" is published in some form or another [this is strictly a rumor I'm starting -- it may turn out to be that the only "published" information is HP confidential...] At least enough of it is published/public knowledge that routers such as Cisco "understand" DTC protocol enough to encapsulate it and pass it over the 'net...
Tom
p.s. I'm having a hard time imagining $300,000 worth of DTC 16's -- what else do you have in the mix there?
