dv9000 doesn't boot without noapic or acpi=off
I have to specify noapic or acpi=off kernel paramter to make it start, but then I get other problems.
With the noapic option the ehci usb module takes 100% cpu power.
With the acpi=off the nvidia drivers doesn't work.
I have seen a lot of other users having the same problem.

Re: dv9000 doesn't boot without noapic or acpi=off
So, what is the question?
Using Linux certified hardware avoids these issues.

Re: dv9000 doesn't boot without noapic or acpi=off
First, Where can i find this list of hardware?
Second, Does this mean that hp has no interest in fixing this problem?

Re: dv9000 doesn't boot without noapic or acpi=off
Many people do use uncertified combinations and share information on what works and doesn't work. Google shows an interesting dv9000 linux page at http://www4.ncsu.edu/~ahambrown4/linuxondv9000.html
That reports some success.
Sites like http://www.linux-laptop.net/ also have long lists of systems and links to reports by people who have tried to use them.
You can also look on the web sites that specialize in information about the particular linux distributions that you are interested in using. They often have pages about trying to use specific hardware.

Re: dv9000 doesn't boot without noapic or acpi=off
Else it's beetween 3-5 coldstarts before it boots.
The link www4.ncsu.edu/~ambrown4/linuxondv9000.html
is a good guide, if you have the intel version.
I have the amd version with nvidia chipset and broadcom wireless.
Does HP know what's causing the problem?
Is there a solution?
Are HP interested in solving the problem?

Re: dv9000 doesn't boot without noapic or acpi=off
On 64bits kernel the system freezes almost every time the hw clock is accessed. This problem is not seen in the 32bit kernel.
Another problem seems to be the console driver. Running command thats produces a lot of text (like dmesg) makes the computer hang, but the nvidia Xorg driver works fine.
This bug is discussed in http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8186
