E1000 Device not found

Hello,
I installed CentOS 2.6.9-42.ELsmp. I installed a driver e1000-7.1.9.tar.gz for the NIC EH352AA Intel Pro 1000 PT PCI-Express GBit. (modinfo e1000 works fine). But ifconfig eth1 response with: eth1:error fetching interface information: Device not found.
Finally: service network restart
Bringing up interface eth1: e1000 device does not seem to be present, delaying initialization.
any suggestion?

Thanks

Re: E1000 Device not found

Shalom,

The OS has no support for this card. I can only imagine you are using one of these new low end boxes that are certified windows only.

I heard that RH 4 update 5 was released a few days ago. Perhaps it will provide better support for this hardware.
