error "Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server" on Redhat Adv server 3.0

Hi ,

I am getting an error

Xlib: connection to "192.168.76.104:0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server
xhost: unable to open display "192.168.76.104:0"

on Redhat adv server 3.0.. I had installed the server in default mode.. Now even if I give xhost + command on the console.. Mesg states tht clients are allowed.. but if I try to access X application I get the above error..

Re: error "Xlib: Client is not authorized to connect to Server" on Redhat Adv server 3.0

Hi ,

The problem got solved in a very unusual way.On the clients workstation I was using X-win32 application to run my Unix
X application on windows.I replaced the application with exceed & the problem got solved .. Very strange I dont have any explaination for that.My X-win32 application is working fine with other operating systems like Solaris & Hp-UX.. This was the first Linux server in my Network which I tried to access to run a perticular X application.

Thks for all those who had replied..

This is probably not a Linux issue : There are only different ports of the same XFree86 on those machines.

What probably happenned is that IP of Linux server were not in an accepeted range for your xhost server on X-win32, whereas Exceed as a default accepts all connections.

If you still have X-win32, try to configure it to accept connection. As long as MS-Win X servers do not have commands such as xhost+, this many be found in some menu.

Fred
