explaination on drvnet.img

Does any one know how "drvnet.img - Supplemental Network Drivers" are used in conjunction with the bootnet.img. I assumed there is a relation between them. Thanks.

I am trying to do a network install on an ibm 345 series, this model have an on board broadcom Net Xtreme gigabit NIC card. During the install it failed on DHCP, because RH8 does not include the tg3 nic driver in the bootnet.img file. If the drvnet.img file has the tg3 module, is there a way to include driver from drvnet.img file into the bootnet.img file? Thanks.

If you are doing a KS type installation, and don't want to be typing and monkeying diskette's, then the unstructions that Karthik posted are good.

It's a painfully long way to do it, but it is the only way.

I did it slightly differently from this, by using a bootable CD instead of a floppy however.

The RH8 and 9 disks have a have an 'isolinux' documentation and installation notes, and I posted a URL in a kickstart thread a few days ago (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=300010) with instructions on how to modify this.

Thanks, but the url is currently unavialable. I've found the tg3 drivers in the drvnet.img. I have move it into initrd.img in boonet.img file and updated proper files in module dir. However, I am having problem moving file into bootnet.img file, initrd.img file is too large. I will try to trim initrd.img file down, but is there a way to increase the size of bootnet.img file? Thanks.

And the situation you are describing is exactally why I used a CD :)

You can get the little floppy-sized CD's (or hell! even just a business-card sized one) which will work just fine.
