You can give a look at the 'dump' command. But I don't know if it is good to backup the OS filesystems.

Hi,

I don't know if this software is good for you, but it is for backup purposes.

Re: Fbackup for linux redhat 7.3

We use mondo rescue software to backup our systems to dvd-rw. We also use a free product called star. Just like tar, but it has more options and seems to be a good bit faster. We also use an Arcserve for Linux product. But it is not free and is a bit cumbersome. I would suggest using star to tape nightly, then use mondo on the off hours to create a bootable backup CD of the entire system.

Ignite(make_tape_recovery) has not been ported.

There is a free immitator product called Mondo which does this basic function for Linux.

Search for Mondo and you will find at least 50 threads that mention it.
