FrontPage extension on Apache 2.0

Hi, I'm thinking about installing FrontPage extensions on my RedHat 8 server running Apache 2.0.
I've heard it can be a security problem and just a general pain, being Microsoft.
But does anyone have any advice on why or why not to use them?
Is it more work and frustration than it's worth?
Any advice appreciated.
Thank...

Re: FrontPage extension on Apache 2.0

I've used FP Extensions on pre-2.0 era and it was slow. Actually, it was VERY SLOW and also a memory hog.

Its installation should be done with real care, as of my days it would set a number of files to run with root permissions. Probably you'll have to run it chrooted for increased security, which implies that you'll have to run a development server and a production server.

Sure, you get a nifty MS interface in your Windows client to manage your web server, but I don't think it's worth all the work for have a sane environment.
