generating coredump

hi all

I wonder if I could get coredump when Linux has been abruptly down

how can I setup config file to generate it?
or is there any other way to do work?

Re: generating coredump

check out http://www.tldp.org/FAQ/Linux-FAQ/tips.html#enable-core-dumps - this may be out of date tho. Isn't there an option for that in the kernel config ?
and isn't that turned on by default anyway ?
