/etc/rc.d/init.d/named status
rndc: connect: connection refused

what is going on here? Just thought someone might know about the above error. If not that's ok, I will check it our tomorrow.

by the way this on redhat 7.1 running bind version "bind-9.1.0-10". Thanks.

Look at the following thread:

http://www.redhat.com/mailing-lists/redhat-secure-server/msg00046.html

There are a couple reponses to the query.

Hope this helps.

Re: getting this error with named

Hi,
you will have to give rndc access right in the
DNS server.
follow this link:-
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.2-Manual/ref-guide/s1-bind-rndc.html

Re: getting this error with named

SivaKumar, I've gotten rndc to work but when I do rndc status, it tells me that this functionality is not yet implemented. I currently have Version: 9.1.0 and I am running RH 7.1 and bind-9.1.0-10. Do you know what version will the status arg is implemented. If so will it be compatible with my current bind version? Thanks.
