We have purchased new HP Proliant DL 380G6 server to install Suse Enterprise Linux 10.
I have mounted the ISO image of Suse 10 in to virtula media through ILO2 and started installation.
After starting installation, I am getting the message "No drives found".
How to solve this?

Re: Hard disk is not detecting while installing Suse Enterprise linux 10 on HP Proliant DL 380G6
You may need to use a more updated version of Suse.
When G6 hardware came out HP changed the disk drivers and those drivers were only present in recent versions of the OS. There is a support matrix about. But if you get a recent update of Suse, it will have the drivers needed to find the disks.

I have tried RHEL 5.3, Hard disk is not detected in that too.
What is the latest version for SLES and RHEL?

SolutionLatest version of RHEL is 5.4.
However, G6 supports 5.2, and 5.3
So there is something else wrong.
Boot the system at console, watch for the prompt for the P400 raid configuration. Take the right function key.
Configure your RAID array and then try your OS.
I don't know the current Suse version, however if its older than the G6 server, it won't know how to boot the disks.
There are rumors of drivers about to solve this problem for an older OS. My take is its not worth it. Be on the support matrix for your boot disk.

To assume is the error we all make to frequently.
I have seen lately a large number of thread about why my old OS wont install onto my really really new hardware... but alas..

We are able to find the hard disk by REHL 5.3
Thanks a lot for you support.
