Help! Netserver LPr, devices detected in wrong order!

Hardware:
NetServer LPr
Netraid-1si RAID card
Dell PowerVault 210S external array

I installed Win2k and everythings works fine EXCEPT that no matter what I do, Win2k sees the disks in the array as Disk 0, Disk 1, etc, and so the LAST Disk ID is the SCSI disk hooked to the internal SCSI (Symbios) controller.

I've tried reinstalling the OS, even installing everything and THEN hooking up the array. As soon as I attach the array, the disks in the array instantly are given disk 0, 1, etc status and the internal drive is moved down to the last ID. I've played with the BIOS, the SCSI utils, the RAID utils, everything. I can't figure out how to get Windows 2000 to assign the internal HD the Disk ID of 0.

Has anyone had this problem? Please help.

Thanks!

Ok.. LPr, NetRAID, fine.. The DELL? never tried mixing an matching, but no matter..

Win2k, err, this is a Linux forum, but anyway..

It sounds like you've configured the array to have two logical volumes, but that's ok..

To me, it seems as if you need to tweak the boot-order of the SCSI controllers in the LPr's BIOS.

Now I've not used an LPr, and am unsure whether it has the boot priority features that the LH/LC models have, so you might be restricted to having the RAID as the primary controller (thus the primary disks), and the symbios as a secondary/tertiery.

Other than that, talk over in the Windows forums, to see if there's a Windows way to make the Symbios the happy-master..
One long-haired git at your service...
