how to start installation
hi there,
sorry for such a stupid title but it reflects my situation.
I got a proliant ml150.
it has a smart array e200i controller with 3 disks.
I want to have two of them as a raid 1 and the third one "just as a second disk"
having no documentation to speak of i started to play around and eventually created a locical volume with the two first disks.
then I installed linux (open suse 10.3). everything seems to work fine, only I do not see the third disk. neither when I start the array configuration (hitting f8) nor when partitioning.
on the single cd I was provided with I find no documentation I can use.
I can boot from this CD but it tries to start something which it can not and ends in a "funny" shell prompt from which I have no idea how to proceed.
to make a long story short: I only want to be able to add that third disk as a second volume I can access. how can I do that.
thanks for your time.
robert

Re: how to start installation
Do you know if you have added the third drive as a hot-spare for the RAID 1 array?
Check the Array configuration for the RAID 1 array to see if a hot-spare has been assigned.

Re: how to start installation
hi,
firstly, make one drive fully free and then take cdrom and restart and do proceed the installation process by making manual partitions .
