I'm installing new solution based on HP Proliant DL380 G5 with Linux Debian 5.0 "Lenny" freshly released (2009-02-14).
My question is about 2 softwares of the HP Proliant Value Add Software package:
- HP System Health Application and Insight Management Agents (hpasm)
and
- HP Systems Management Homepage (hpsmh)
Do you have a ralease date for the "lenny" version of Debian?
Best regards
PS: i'have also writen a long documentation about how to install debian on dl380g5 and that's why i waiting so much for the release.
Solved! Go to Solution.

SolutionTry going to hp.com, download drivers and support, and search for your server. Debian 5.0 should be an option.
We also have a Debian 5.0 installation HOWTO, available here:

Re: HP Add Value Software - Debian 5.0 Lenny
I have installed the package but i have a problem with the raid monitoring.
In the Storage box of Insight Manager Homepage, i have no information / status about raid controller and his sas drives. I just have "File System Space Used" and "Standard IDE Controller on System Board" items.
Management Processor, Nic, System, Recovery and Utilisation boxes are fully populated.
cmascsid is loaded and running
I reinstalled agents, homepage and their dependencies (templates + health) several times unsuccessfully.
An other strange behavior: Systems Insight Manager can't determine the server identity.
When i launch manualy the discover: "The device does not have any supported instrumentation."
I have 30 HP servers on my HP SIM. 1 dl380 g5 on esx, 1 dl380 g5 on Debian Etch, and i had no problem with them (installation and configuration).
Any ideas ?

Re: HP Add Value Software - Debian 5.0 Lenny
I installed cpqacuxe and cpqarrayd ...
I restarted hp-snmp-agents ans hpsmhd and the System Management Homepage for this server is now fully populated. Great!
I'm working now for my last problem with HP Systems Insight Manager.
My lenny server is viewed as an unknown system.
Product Description :
System Type Unknown
Management Protocols HTTP:, SMH:2.0, SSH:SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.1p1 Debian-5
Strangely, snmp protocol is not mentioned there but it is installed on the host. hmmm

Re: HP Add Value Software - Debian 5.0 Lenny
SNMP only binded the loopback interface (127.0.0.1) and not eth0. Now it's the default behavior of snmp protocol wich comes with Lenny distribution.
So i fixed the problem by adding this two lines in /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf :
interface eth0
agentaddress [ip address]:161
My Proliant DL380 G5 with Debian 5.0 Lenny works fine. Great!
