hp compaq nc8000, o2micro SD reader and linux
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if Linux drivers exist, or are in the works, for the SD card readers that come with the HP Compaq nc8000 (as well as the nc6000, I think). I've checked www.tuxmobil.org, and I've done a search with Google. I've even contacted O2Micro. I was wondering if anyone from HP had any official word on this.
Thanks,
Jason Mazzotta

Re: hp compaq nc8000, o2micro SD reader and linux
Dear Jason,
I can't give you an official word on this but using Suse Linux 9.0 I had no problem using an external USB card reader to read and write to compact flash cards. I would almost be surprised if this would be different in your case.
Kind regards, Christian

Re: hp compaq nc8000, o2micro SD reader and linux
Hi Christian,
I can use USB with my camera. The SD card reader in Windows with O2Micro's drivers is at least twice as fast. I'd like to be able to get that speed in Linux.
Thanks,
Jason Mazzotta
PS - Unfortunately, I got this reply from O2Micro. Bummer.
Hello Jason,
We currently have this as a "To Do" item but with very low priority. We are resource limited and the function is somewhat complicated. Also we can't release any functional spec publicly at the moment. All I can say is that competition is very tight.
