hpasm and deskpro?

I've got a Deskpro EN (P-III, 733) that I'd like to be able to monitor the temparature and fan speed. lm sensors says if it's a compaq, that cpqhealth is needed. cpqhealth appears to have been replaced with hpasm. But, everything I've found for cpqhealth and hpasm has been for proliants.

Will it work on a deskpro? If not, what will? How about with SuSE 9 Professional?

Thanks,
Greg

Re: hpasm and deskpro?

There are no HP-provided solutions for client systems running Linux. However, you could probably benefit from some open source projects. Go check out OpenWBEM or OpenPegasus which are common information model object managers (CIMOMs) and SBLIM which is a CIM provider.

Re: hpasm and deskpro?

Thanks for the references to those two projects. They look interesting. Unfortunately, that is not what I was looking for. I was trying to find out of the DeskPro EN systems had sensors that tracked environmental and operational data. For example, many systems have the ability to report the speed of the CPU and other fans in the system, the ambiant temperature in the case (some systems), and the CPU temperature. I was hoping to find a way to read those values from within Linux so that I could monitor them with my existing monitoring solution.

Thanks,
Greg
