Are you sure its X windows? Take a look at sar to find out the real problem.
X Windows performance is a controlled by system performance and video driver and such. The driver is an important factor.

I guess that you run KDE/GNOME, not just X Window. Got such configuration you need min. 256MB, optimal size >=512MB.

I have 3.5 Gbs of memory on the server and swap is 3 Gbs. All resource utilizartion is okay cpu, memory, disk, and network, no resource seems to be high.
