Increase in SCRATCH size
I want increase scratch size on RED Hat ent edition OS. Currently it is 18 GB & The ram size is 8 GB. I want to make scratch size around 45 GB.

If you are talking about swap, then 18Gig for 8gig of memory is, by normal convention, more than adequate. More than that might decrease system performance under certain circumstances.
Of course, another variable is your CPU -- if you are running a 32 bit processor, you won't be able to address properly more total (physical + virtual) than you have anyway.

I agree with Alan if you are referring to swap then 18GB is good.
