Installing Linux

I am installing RedHat Enterprise on a HP-UX Itanium server the following happens:

Loading.: Internal Bootable DVD
Starting.: Internal Bootable DVD

ELILO boot: Uncompressing Linux... donen munu.
Loading initrd initrd.img... done

THEN it hangs or I get the an "ATI9"

What does this mean?

Do you have the 64 bit Itanium version? The regular vesion is 32 bit Inel. Won't work on Itanium.

I am not sure if it is a 64 bit or a 32. How can you tel

It's an ELILO boot, so it's an Itanium version.

Which version of RHE are you using? AS? ES? version 2.1 or 3? Which release (update 1, 2, 3) ?

This will help us track down possible problems.

I should have searched earlier.. Are you installing via a Serial console?

I am installing RHE AS ver3 update 4.

Also, it's a 64-bit itanium server.

Oh, this is a rx4640 itanium server and I am connecting using MP.

How do you check the console settings?
