Installing Suse 9.1 on HP ML330

I have a question.

Smartstart v7.10 does not boot because the system is to old, so i used version 5.40 but it only supports Novell and Microsoft.

How to configure my array ?
Do i need smartstart ?

Hi Mark,

use smartstart just to configure your raid controller.

After that, boot the server with the suse installation cd and go ahead.

If suse does not detect your raid device then you will have to create a floppy with the module (driver) of your raid controller to inform it during the first stage of the installation process.

Hi

You can use smart cd just to create the array, but if you array controller bios allows you to setup the array then you are good you dont even need smart start cd.

After the array configuration you can start loading the OS.
