Thanks !

The latest HBA drivers for QLOGIC provides failover capabilities on Linux and should be used insted of secure path (that is the information i have).

Start from this URL and follow the links to "documentation" and "Linux":

Re: Is there any other option like Secure Path for Linux ?

Hi there,

I have installed the following Qlogic RPMs:
hp_qla2x00src-7.05.00-12.linux.rpm
fibreutils-1.11-3.linux.i386.rpm
Do that mean I have installed QLogic multipath driver?

I can use QLogic SANsurfer to browser the HBAs, also, there is a "Failover Wizard", with which I can "Enalbe Static Load Balancing", is this function to setup QLogic multipath ? or something else ?

After update the failover data, it asked:
"You must reload the QLA driver module/rebuild the RAM disk in order for the saved configuation to become effective"
How can I do that? I can't find any guideline for this...

And how can I know whether I have setup multipath successfully or not? Is there any utility for that like "spmgr" in "secure path" ?

Thanks a lot !

UWE do you know if that qlogic driver will handled controller failovers correctly like securpath since both arn't active. IE a switch failure. Just curious. Also If anyone has a document on persistant binding for his setup that will probably help him too :). I dont have one in my favorites, but know it can be a pain under linux.

I found that Redhat provide "mdadm" multipath stuff, can I use that instead of Secure Path ?
Thanks !

Jeff,

There's a doc on persistence here: http://h200005.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00306808/c00306808.pdf

Just click through the link Uwe posted above, then click "Technical Documentation", then "manuals (guides, supplements, addendums, etc)"

Hello yyghp,

it's the other guide:
HP StorageWorks Using the QLogic HBA Driver for Single-path or Multi-path Failover Mode on Linux Systems Application Notes (AA-RVGWD-TE, May 2005)
