iSCSI offload for a netxtreme II not working

I am running RHEL 5, and have installed the hp netxtreme rpms

however, I can't seem to get iscsi offload working. The problem is that the driver claims the card is not iscsi capable

taken from the dmesg log:

Broadcom NetXtreme II iSCSI Driver bnx2i v1.8.12e (Dec 11, 2009)
bnx2i: iSCSI not supported, dev=eth3
bnx2i: dev eth3 does not support iscsi
bnx2i: iSCSI not supported, dev=peth3
bnx2i: dev peth3 does not support iscsi

Any suggestions?
