HP ML370 with dual 2.8G Xeon's running RH8.

The boot-up messages have this mixed amongst them. After a bit of reasarch I'm still at a loss as to what this means.

There isn't an eratta kernel on the machine as it breaks a neccessary componant (ABI).

This last message indicates that it went away with a kernel upgrade or downgrade.

This looks like a problem with one of the cpu's in a dual cpu box.

I don't think its a kernel problem.

Do you have any similarly configured boxes without the problem?

I'd switch kernels and see if it goes away.

As I said, updating the kernel is not an option. The latest eratta kernels break ABI functionality, and I'm not in a position of re-writing the main application to get away from that dependancy ;)

Just had a word to the guy who last had hands-on this machine. Hyper-threading was left disabled.

In all the threads you posted, this was a common theme.

The other one was that it's not fatal, but might be costing some performance.

It's just strange that this is the first time it's shown up since the machine went in (5 months or so? I've lost track).

Where does this leave me? a 34 digit phone number when I'm half asleep.. ;) I think I'll just live with it for the moment.
