kmod failed to exec during startup

why I received the following "failed" message when my system boots(during startup).

kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k block-major-8, errno = 2

The above "failed" message comes after the following message:
Journalled Block Device driver loaded

Re: kmod failed to exec during startup

Hi
after reading the thread # 452028 I found that i dont have /etc/inetd.conf. Although I myself did the installation, and every thing went fine.
Why I dont have /etc/inetd.conf file, although the installation was fine, and how can i have /etc/inetd.conf file, on my existing system.

Re: kmod failed to exec during startup

Hello Sharf,

you might not have inetd since many distros nowadays defautlt to xinetd. Have a look around in /etc for xinetd.d and xinetd.conf.

Re: kmod failed to exec during startup

I do have /etc/xinetd.d and /etc/xinetd.conf. Second an amazing thing is that, 'kmod' failed message is NOT A MUST, i.e, I reboot the system 8 times, and found this 'kmod' failed message 5
times i.e 3 times this failed message didnt come. So what u GURUS say now??? what's wrong here???

Thanks
