Linux causes Proliant CPU failure?
I have tried installing RedHat 8 on two Proliant 5000's and an 1850, and in all cases rebooting after the install indicates that all CPUs except the primary have failed. I have to go into the system utilities and indicate that I have corrected the problem for them to work again.
Any ideas?

Re: Linux causes Proliant CPU failure?
Are you specifically installing the SMP Kernel? I saw the reverse of this on Laptops where RH installed the SMP.
RH 8 has a bunch of issues, if you are doing servers consider SuSE Enterprise or RH Adv Srv.

Re: Linux causes Proliant CPU failure?
did you check bugzilla and/or HP site?
In fact, RH8.1 is very close - we'll se it in 3-4 weeks
Vitaly.

Re: Linux causes Proliant CPU failure?
I finally finished the install and after I again reset the CPUs and rebooted into Linux using the smp kernel the problem has disappeared.
Apparently the install kernel causes some issues for the early smp proliants?
