Linux - CPU Temperature above threshold
Hi ,
I have ProLiant DL380 G4 server running with Linux on it
Getting following error in syslog.
Mar 15 16:30:51 BSICMDBDR kernel: CPU3: Temperature above threshold
Mar 15 16:30:51 BSICMDBDR kernel: CPU2: Temperature above threshold
Mar 15 16:30:51 BSICMDBDR kernel: CPU2: Running in modulated clock mode
Mar 15 16:30:51 BSICMDBDR kernel: CPU3: Running in modulated clock mode
Any idea what to do about this pleas?
Thanks and Regards
Rajeev

Re: Linux - CPU Temperature above threshold
CPU2 and CPU3 are not receiving enough cooling. The CPUs are slowing themselves down to prevent overheating damage.
Things to check:
- Is the server room too hot? (See the server's manual for specifications.) Increase cooling if necessary.
- Is the airflow into or out of the server blocked by dust, dirt or unorganized cables? Clean & reorganize if necessary.
- Is there dust build-up in the CPU heat sinks? (This might happen if the server is in a very dusty environment.)

Re: Linux - CPU Temperature above threshold
Fan failure is another option?
