Linux Monitoring

Hi all,

I’m trying to understand the best way of monitoring RH 3.0/4.0 ES servers on
HP blades. Both our Windows and Linux servers will be HP ProLiant blades and both will have SIM 5.0 installed. This will take care of the HW monitoring, but now how do you monitor the OS layer? (Heartbeats, CPU, Memory and Disk space)

Thanks, Richard

Re: Linux Monitoring

You can use nagios, ganglia, rrdtool, mrtg to monitor your server.

Por que hacerlo dificil si es posible hacerlo facil? - Why do it the hard way, when you can do it the easy way?

Re: Linux Monitoring

topaz? Is it an internal Linux app?

Also, what would HP solution be? Are network group has HP NNM installed. Would I be able to leverage off NNM?

Thanks, Richard

Re: Linux Monitoring

SNMP tools are available for Linux and
expose the OS to monitoring by any SNMP
tools you might have.

Re: Linux Monitoring

each linux server comes installed with logwatch by default. tune it a little bit to your taste.

if you are using other hp products like OVO, you can install a linux agent to do the monitoring for you.
