Linux/NAS

I have an iomega NAS unit running win2k. I want to try to load Linux 9 on the system instead of windows. Is this possible? has anyone tried this before. NFS with windoze is not flexible enough. Any insight?

Re: Linux/NAS

I do not know if you can just install linux on the unit.

I do know that if you set up windows shares, and a user id for a Linux box, you can mount the shares with the cifsmount(hp-ux, there is a linux equivalent smbmount) command.

Remember, Windows has cifs/samba built into it for all shares. Thats the way to share disk space on this monster without possibly invalidating the warranty or getting someone in nas administration really annoyed.

Re: Linux/NAS

Never done it. Iomega says it works well :

You'll get also drivers from there.

Testimonies seem to indicate easy install :
