Linux Operations agent installation 7.35-1
Hi,
I tried installing OV Operations Agent (v 7.35-1) on a Linux(Suse) box with uname -a as below,
Linux skypeg4 2.6.16.21-0.8-smp #1 SMP Mon Jul 3 18:25:39 UTC 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux.
While doing so, the installation fails with the following errors
Install OPC
Updating ITO version file /opt/OV/bin/OpC/install/opcinfo.
TRACE: Next free GID in /etc/group: 77
groupadd: Group `opcgrp' already exists.
ERROR: Couldn't create /etc/group entry for group opcgrp.
error: %post(OPC-7.35-1.i586) scriptlet failed, exit status 126
Install OPCCOMM
Install OPCPERF
WARNING: Could not register CODA subagent. Execute manually:
/opt/OV/bin/OpC/opcagtreg -add /opt/OV/bin/OpC/install/coda.reg
The /etc/passwd and /etc/group do not contain the respective user opc_op and opcgrp created at all, but even while trying to add manually it fails.
When I tried to do some R&D, I found that OPC.rpm contains the opcactivate script which tried to add the user and group.
So I tried to comment that line and run it again, I found how to extract the rpm (resulted in opt & usr directories) but could not re-package the directories to rpm file.
Can somebody please help me, I appreciate the help on this.
I am ready to provide all the details required.
Thanks,
Arun

Re: Linux Operations agent installation 7.35-1
Shalom Arun,
Possibilities:
1) /etc/group permissions are wrong.
2) There is already an entry in /etc/group
3) Bad software from the vendor.
4) Software is not certified for the OS.
5) It will work after this error and its your lucky day.
The list is not exclusive.

1) /etc/group permissions are wrong. --> No errors as
grpck
Checking `/etc/group'
2) There is already an entry in /etc/group --> No entry
3) Bad software from the vendor.
4) Software is not certified for the OS.
5) It will work after this error and its your lucky day.
