Linux restore procedure
Hi,
A customer have a linux system where the sda disk failed that is the Operating system.
I am planning install a new OS , the same version than the failed in the OS.
After I am planning to do a restore using the tape where is the full backup of the the system ,
Is this a good procedure or there is some other sugestion.
To do the restore after the installed system , I need to boot in some special mode , I meant single user or maintenance mode ?

Re: Linux restore procedure
Hi
To restore its advisable to boot in single user mode, at boot prompt do:
linux single
And then restore the backup.
What type of backup is there tar, cpio etc.

Re: Linux restore procedure
Backup type is cpio.
The option that are permited if I remember in the version 7.xx is rescue .
If the new disk drive have not partition , how I do that , that is the reason that I was thinking to install the OS and then after do the restore,
Or do you want to say that I do the installation with the CD and after boot in single user and restore with the tape.
