Linux serial port

Hi, folks,

I am connecting one UPS to the serial port /dev/ttyS1 of the Linux Red Hat 7.2. And I put one line below in my /etc/inittab file as required.

a1:3:off:/sbin/mgetty -br ttyS1 -s 2400

But when I configure the UPS software I always got the complain below:

/dev/ttyS1 appears to be a local control port
WARNING: Port must be configured for modem control in order to work with a "simple" Signaling UPS

So my problem is how can I set serial port /dev/ttyS1 as modem control port instead of local control port?

Thanks in advance!

Regards!

Re: Linux serial port

Yu Ting,

items found by google indicate you may need a better cable (at least for PowerChute).
I searched for "Port must be configured for modem control" (quotes included).
