Linux uid/gid for ldap client


hi,
What needs to be done for a Linux Ldap client to get the user UID/GID after directly from a Novell Edirectory LDAP server after authorized by the Ldap server.

We added the UID/GID to the LDAP entry on the Novell eDirectory server for the
user but the Linux Ldap client keeps consulting
local /etc/passwd for UID/GID; we
also have set /etc/nsswitch passwd compat
