login to linux server

can someone help me, how to configure linux workstation login to linux server with ip static(i use DNS in my server),i am newbie.

What do you call login ? Remote shell ? In this case, best would be to set up ssh. Here is Chris Vale's guide provided by Steven E Proter on the process.
If login describes a kind of windows like network neighborhood share access, then you need to set up a server (nfs or samba) on your server. It'll the depends on if you have windows stations on your network or not, and what you want to do with this access (share files, printer ?)

this the scenario, i want to control a few client using server(userid/password/sharing this thing control by server) so i any client want to connect to server it must had a userid from server, like a w2k server (in w2k we know Active directory and domain, i want to configure like that) and client w98,etc..thanks
