Re: Modem cannot dialing

Is the modem internal or external? If it's external it won't find it, but if it is internal it should.

let me know

Re: Modem cannot dialing

I've got a similar problem: I'm using a 8720Pavilion with a 733MHz Intel CPU, an internal MSP3880-W 56K Modem and Mandrake Linux 8.0.
All features (excluding the MM keyboard and the CD-Writer, not tested yet) do work ok with this O.S., but the modem has never been recognised.
On the other hand, it runs perfectly under W'98
May be it's a WinModem?

I'm using an external modem./.
is there anyhow to configure it?

Linux should support the external modem..is it?

Re: Modem cannot dialing

External modem is most probably connected to the serial port of your PC. If it is so, check if you can configure it in RedHat manually instead of using the auto search. The device you need to specify is /dev/ttyS0 or /dev/ttyS1.
