modem problem

1)how to get linux detect my modem? my modem is MSP3880SP-U 56K interal modem.

2)how to connect to my service provider?

Hi,

Unfortunately your modem is a "SoftModem". Specs available at manufactures web site http://www.aztech.com.sg/spec/spec_56k3880.htm

The vendor doesn't support it on Linux.

To give you a better understanding of what a SoftModem or "WinModem" is, have a look at this site.

There is a beta driver for your softmodem's chipset, it might be worth looking into before buying a linux compatible modem. Here's the link for the driver info
