MSL5026 Library and a Compaq Data Router on RH Linux
DISCLAIMER:
I posted this on the SAN forum too, but i noticed that there have been in this forum some MSL5026 related discussions, which tell me there are some users with experience here.
--------------------------
I am having some problems with a Storage Works MSL5026 Library and a Compaq
Data Router.
First things first. We recently acquired a SAN storage device, having some
troubles to access the storage from a Linux box i finally was able to do it
with a Linux RedHat 7.3 and 8.0. This access is made from a fibre channel
from the machine to a data switch and to the SAN itself.
I want to use that machine to manage the MSL5026 Library (the backup
device where all the tapes are). What happens is that the library is not
directly connected to the SAN. The library connects to a Modular Data
Router that connects to the data switch that connects to the SAN.
From the Linux box, doing some debug I could find the data router in
/dev/sg0, i am unable however to find the tape drives (there are 2 of
them).
The output from /proc/scsi/scsi is the following:
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: COMPAQ Model: DATA ROUTER Rev: 1170
Type: Unknown ANSI SCSI revision: 02
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 01 Lun: 00

Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 06 Lun: 00

I have been googling for some time now but can't find help on the subject. I
was hoping I could find someone here who has a similar setup. If so and if
you can help i would be truly apreciated.
Thank you
