New To linux - mail server
Hi,
I need help on some topic,Am not an advanced Linux user but am ambitious. I want to migrate a windows exchange server to linux with 160 users data, but am not sure of the complexities involved. Is it possible to do so without the clients losing their data(mail), like an upgrade or backups must be created. This is an ip network.Actually I want my linux server to handle sendmail, squid, proxy. So plz guide me how to configure all these without having a trouble, easiest way to configure all these.I have a domain server on windows NT which handles DC,Dhcp, dns at delhi and main server were mails land is in banglore with bharti and it authenticate the mail Id and send to Delhi. So I want my delhi mail server to be on linux with sendmail, squid, ldap, proxy as I have trial verison copy of exchange and mdaemon. So anyone can guide/help me how to do it.
thanks
rishi

Re: New To linux - mail server
Hi Turishi,
I think you have a lot of work to do and you have to study those softwares before going to work. There are so much things to know and to do to have all instructions posted here. I think you have to initiate your job and if problems occours you may post it one by one.
The only thing I can say to you now is not to use sendmail. I suggest you to use postfix (www.postfix.org), it's more secure, easyest to configure and have very good performance.
Another sugestion is to look to OpenExchange from Novell/SUSE at http://www.novell.com/products/openexchange/?sourceidint=productscatmenu_slos
Gook luck.
