NIS+ Linux client?
I know that Linux NIS+ client side
is compatible with a SUN NIS+ server and, in theory, should also be with my HP-UX master server ...
In practice though although my Linux client can download a NIS_COLD_START file from the HP, subsequent commands always fail with server unreachable errors.
By starting rpc.nisd with the -Av flag I can see the Linux cllent lookup request corresponding to
nisinit -c H
but when I then run nisstat on the client nothing is logged by rpc.nisd (this is not a Linux IP chains issue).
Can anyone tell me if the NIS+
combination of HP with Linux is known to work?
Regards,
David

Re: NIS+ Linux client?
I had limited success using
a NIS_COLD_START file generated by the Linux
client tools: could only get 'nisls' working.
