i just tried modify /etc/modules.conf
alias eth0 e100
and it works ..

either the driver was in mandrake8.1 dist
or the files i downloaded worked --;
thx anyway

If you haven't recompiled your default kernel, all of your modules (for everything) are still available. Once your recompile all the modules in your kernel are no longer in. Only the ones you selected. I preffer to add all my drivers into the kernel it's self instead of using modules. If this works for you... keep going.
