Hello,
We have installed Oracle 9205 on SUSE LINUX Enterprise 8 IA64 bit environment.

(2GB, 4 GB, 8GB or more)???
Thanks,

Re: Oracle DATA file Size
hi,
there are possible limits.
some filesystems limits for filesystem size or maximum file size.
if have Oracle 9i on AIX running. the maximum filesize is 4TB or 64TB i don't know (i don't worry 4TB are quite enough and my largest filesystem on the machine is only about 20GB). The Orcale people told me not to make to large db files. the said limit it to 4GB per file and split larger db's over 2,3 or more files if needed (larger files cost very much performence, more smaller files don't consume so much performence, i don't know why but they are right). it's very simple thru oracle enterprise Manager Console to add files to the db if needed.
but if you like to create some huge files (>4GB) please post what kernel and what filesystem do you use, so i can tell you your limits.
