With regards to running X11 over the network:
Assuming the following settings:
Client IP address: 1.2.3.4
Server IP address: 5.6.7.8
At your Client:
$ xhost +5.6.7.8
At your Server:
- for sh,bash,ksh shell:
$ export DISPLAY=1.2.3.4:0.0
- for csh, tcsh shell:
$ setenv DISPLAY=1.2.3.4:0.0
