Re: printer configuration
While Alan's link may be useful if you want to use RedHat's configuration GUI, the CUPS web interface is not specific to any distribution. Therefore, you might want to read the instructions available at www.cups.org too.
http://www.cups.org/documentation.php/overview.html says:
----
Where Do I Begin?
Click on the Administration tab at the top of this page. Click on the Add Printer button and follow the prompts.
When you are asked for a username and password, enter your login username and password or the "root" username and password. [...]
After the printer is added, CUPS will ask you to set the default printer options (paper size, output mode, etc.) for the printer. Make any changes as needed and then click on the Set Default Options button to save them. Some printers also support auto-configuration - click on the Query Printer for Default Options button to update the options automatically.
[ RHEL versions older than RHEL 6 might not have the "Query Printer for Default Options" feature. ]
Once you have added the printer, you can print to it from any application. You can also choose Print Test Page from the maintenance menu to print a simple test page and verify that everything is working properly.
----
If you still have problems, please describe exactly what you're seeing on your screen and what you're doing. Take screenshots if necessary.
(If you're using RHEL's own desktop environment, in RHEL 4 there should be a "Take screenshot" somewhere in the desktop menus. In RHEL 5 and newer, simply press the "PrintScreen" key on your keyboard to take a screenshot.)
