Problem connecting to private wireless access point.
Running Fedora Core6. Trying to connect to the a private wireless access point at work. I was able to do this when Vista was the OS (same laptop), but can not figure out how to do it under FC6.
Facts:
Wireless card is definitely configured and working properly.
Running Network Manager and Network Manager Dispatcher.
Questions: When setting up Vista, I was able to check a box indicating "the key is provided for me automatically", referring to the WEP key. I can't seem to find that parameter in Network Manager on FC6. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
thx. joe

Re: Problem connecting to private wireless access point.
Joe,
I will tell you right off that I am NO expert on this, but I recently went through the fun and excitement of establishing wireless connections through FC6.
Based on the limited experience that I have (I say limited because it only took me about 6 weeks to get it where I wanted (did I mention it was the first attempt??) instead of months) I will have to say that I have neither seen or heard of a place that you can inform the system that you will be provided a WEP key automatically.
Actually, come to think of it, I have never heard of a WEP key being provided automatically.
Silly question, if I may... What is the point of having a WEP key in the first place if the network is going to automatically assign one to anybody that connects?
Not that it matters to the whole question above, but am I missing something on the security of such a network?
