Problem with DL380 and RedHat seeing CDROM
We have successfully installed Redhat V4 AS Update 2 onto three new DL380 G4 servers. All three servers had Redhat loaded from CD's. However one of the servers once booted no longer sees the CD-ROM drive.
The only difference I can see is that during booting the two servers that see the CD-ROM have the following entry in the boot log.
ide0:BM-DMA at xxxxxxx, BIOS Settings: hda:DMA,hdb:pio
The server that fails to see the CD-ROM when booted has the following entry.
ide0:BM-DMA at xxxxxxx, BIOS Settings: hda:pio,hdb:pio
Can anyone assist me in tracking down the problem.
Ronnie

Re: Problem with DL380 and RedHat seeing CDROM
It sounds like a hardware problem. Take a peek inside and make sure the drive is properly connected. Then call hardware if it stil does not work.
It should show up on the gui disk browser.

Re: Problem with DL380 and RedHat seeing CDROM
The message shows that you have different BIOS settings for your IDE CD-ROM devices :
=> DMA is enable
=> DMA is disabled
Before any other hardware repair, make sure that BIOS settings are identical for both servers.
Good lcuk.
