PSP7.7 makes system boot off non smp kernel
I was wondering if anyone has seen this. When PSP7.7 is installed as part of kickstart process (RHAS4 U3, x86_64, 2.6.9-34.EL, DL585 G1), it doesn't create the smp version of HP initrd. Also it updates grub.conf to use a non smp version of kernel. I believe the rpm that is responsible for this is cpq_cciss.
However, if cpq_cciss is re-installed on the running non smp kernel, it does the right thing: creates smp version of initrd and updated grub.conf to use smp version.
I would have used PSP7.8, but we got a few kernel panics in our testing.

Re: PSP7.7 makes system boot off non smp kernel
Shalom,
You don't need to use PSP 7.7 at all.
You can boot of the RH install media and use the SMP kernel without any problems.

Re: PSP7.7 makes system boot off non smp kernel
We use PSP as part of our multipath FC/Disk solution. At this point, we need PSP to work.
