Re: raid harddisk

Hi

What kind of RAID in your mind?

1) software RAID
Installer support software RAID.
You don't scsi or ide raid card.
What you need is 2 or more disks.

2) hardware RAID
You need IDE or SCSI raid card and disks. If you use SCSI RAID card such as NetRAID, you configure RAID from NetRAID BIOS screen.
After that, your installer see the Logical Unit as disk drive.

3) hardware RAID box (external device.)
Some external RAID box needs special driver, but others are just a scsi connection.

Re: raid harddisk

If using software raid (from install), then the distribution's disk manager should help you set it up.

You'll need to create multiple same-sized partitions (generally on seperate disks so you do get some redundancy) and use the RAID options to make the seperate partitions into a single RAID partition.

If it's after-install, then there's a little more fiddling (haven't done it recently), especially if you want to boot from that partition.

If you give us some details on what distribution you're using, and at what point you're at, we should be able to help you more.
One long-haired git at your service...
