Red Hat Linux 9.0 on Proliant DL380

We have recently purchased Proliant DL380G3 servers for one of our prestigious client.we are to install Red Hat Linux 9.0 on these server. The problem that we are facing is described as under.
"when we boot from the Red Hat Linux 9.0 installation CD#1 and press ENTER at the Linux prompt to install, the setup starts and and after asking about language and keyboard selection it arrives at the source of the Linux installation media. At this it has different options including Local CDROM.we select Local CDROM as we have booted from the CD-ROM & installation media is in the CD-ROM.But setup keep asking to insert the Installation media in the cd-rom whereas the media is in the CD-ROM.so we are left with no option except to shutdown the server.
We have tried another option to boot server from Red Hat Linux8.0 and the setup starts without any error."

So i would like to ask:
1.According to the info. at the HP DL380G3 site, until now Linux8.0 is supported on these servers. Is there any updated patch, known issue or upgrade available to install Red Hat Linux 9.0 on these server.

Unfortunately, no. There are only a number of known issues.

If you search through the forums, You'll notice a number of threads with regards to the issues of using RH9 on the modern release of HP servers.

The thread http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=209171 shows details of solutions to get past it for now however, thanks to Gianluca Cecchi.

Re: Red Hat Linux 9.0 on Proliant DL380

It is always safe to use a stable point release of Redhat. The latest Redhat versions are dangerous to be used on production servers. As reliability is of paramount importance in server solutions, it is apt that you stick the stable `woody' release of Debian GNU/Linux on that server. I have replaced Redhat with Debian in many HP server installations for this very reason. The reliability of your HP server solution should not be on the `chopping block'!

We use RH8 servers on HP ML and DL servers in production and have no issues what-so-ever.

RH8 is certified for those platforms.

With the eratta, they are more secure than some of my older boxes at home.
