Redhat Fedora network NIC problem perhaps

I recently upgraded to Fedora and I ran the up2date and was messing around, I guess you could say with the Webmin features.

Well, now, I can ping and telnet to my internal machines, but I can no longer get out to the internet, either with Mozilla or with ping.

I have browsed the newsgroups for days now, and finally I had to give up out of frustration.

Re: Redhat Fedora network NIC problem perhaps

I just installed Fedora today and had the same problem for awhile. My problem was in the proxy settings. Had to set them both in the local preferences through the desktop icon and also in the web browser (Mozilla)

Mine seems to be working now. At least I got to here :o)

Vernon, thanks for the suggestion.

however, I should have mentioned, we a primarily a Windoze shop with Win Proxy. Therefore, my Two Linux PC's have a direct connection to the Internet with no proxy.

Both my desktop settings and my mozilla show no proxy settings.

All,

Cancel this call.

I disabled the firewall, using the desktop icons - thank you Vern for leading me there.

Interesting, this could not be disabled via Webmin.

Thanks Vernon and if you post a reply I will award you the points for leading me there.

Thanks again.

Re: Redhat Fedora network NIC problem perhaps

Thanks Nick; you got there mostly on your own.
I'm trying to set up Fedora as my primary web server. Almost there; I'll post a thread after I do a little more research.

So far; I like the Fedora distro; got it from http://cheapbytes.com for about 9 bucks :o)

Good luck !!
