RedHat LINUX 3 AS shutdown Problem ML570 G2
Hi,
We have 2 x ML570 G2 servers both running RedHat Linux 3 AS , the problem we are having is when we issue any command to poweroff the server in Linux i.e. shudown ; poweroff the server seems to suspend itself but not fully power off. We have spoken to RedHat support and the said it most likley a BIOS setting on the ML570 G2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Regards
Adrian.

Re: RedHat LINUX 3 AS shutdown Problem ML570 G2
Hi Adrian
I have the same problem with Proliant DL360G3 and DL380G3.
I found that /var/log/messages said that APM BIOS was not found - The BIOS must be using ACPI and does not support APM.
I did not find a way to solve this problem yet.
Regards
Daniel

Re: RedHat LINUX 3 AS shutdown Problem ML570 G2
Hi
This looks like something to do with the BIOS/Firmware and if you call HP/Compaq they would ask you to upgrade the System Bios and Raid Bios. This might help.

Re: RedHat LINUX 3 AS shutdown Problem ML570 G2
I have downloaded the most up to date BIOS, SCSI/RAID controller, Network card Firmware flash and the most up to date PSP drivers and it did not resolve the problem.
Iâ m running RedHat 8.0 kernel 2.4.28.
Does anybody has an HP DL360 / 380 G2 running Linux (of any version) which is able to power down itsel
